About Rich London

Sa Bum Nim London has been training in the Martial Arts for over 23 years. He began his training in Tae Kwon Do at the Abington Tae Kwon Do Academy in Abington, PA. Sa Bum Nim London’s instructor was Master Ian Cyrus, a fifth degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do who also held belt ranking in Aikido and Juijistu. Mr. London earned both his First and Second Degree Black Belts at the Abington Tae Kwon Do Academy.

 

Rich moved to the Charlotte area in 1989 and became the Tae Kwon Do Chief Instructor at the Carmel Fitness Center. He discontinued the Tae Kwon Do program in 1991 when he became a Deputy in the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Unit. He later transferred to the Pineville Police Department where he was a part-time Police Officer for several years.

 

He returned to Martial Arts training in 1996 under Master Richard Aughtry at the AISOK Karate school in Matthews, NC. In 1999 Mr. London began training at Griffin’s Martial Arts Gym (MAG) in Stallings, NC. In 2003 Mr. London earned his Shodan (First Degree) Black Belt in Shorinji Kempo at MAG. In 2003 he also earned his Third Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and became the Chief Instructor of the Tae Kwon Do program at Martial Arts Gym, where he was awarded Instructor of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2006.

 

Sa Bum Nim London has also participated in numerous seminars in Combat Hapkido under the direct instruction of internationally known Grand Master John Pellegrini. As a former police officer, Mr. London has great insight into real life self defense situations. As a practitioner of several different styles of the Martial Arts, Mr. London is uniquely qualified to teach the most effective techniques for each given situation.

 

Mr. London started Practical Self Defense Seminars™ when he recognized a need for easy to learn self defense techniques that didn't require years of training and physical conditioning.
